THIS WEEK: LGBTQIA+ Education Workshops for Teachers! Last Minute Tickets

It's easy to assume that hosting an IDAHOBIT activity requires the support of your workplace, school, or wider community, but each year thousands of people go rainbow and stand against discrimination all on their own. And it's super easy to do it!

Here's what we've learned from these legends.

1. Sign Up to Host Your Own Event

Start planning your activity by signing up and registering your idea – and we'll send you our free toolkit to help you out.

2. Ideas to Go Rainbow Your Own Way

Set yourself a challenge during the month of May to raise awareness or to fundraise in support of LGBTQIA+ inclusion. Organise for your audience, friends, family or community to pledge donations based on milestones in your activity. Here are some ideas based on what we've seen work well.

Go Without

Go without something you've been wanting to give! Try caffeine, sugar, screen time, or alcohol.

Physical Challenge

Set yourself a physical goal, and stick to it. Trek an ambitious distance each day for a week, sign up for a fun run, or commit to a daily workout routine (it could even be a daily walk!).

Rainbow Livestream

Livestream your challenge, or create your own style of livestream. You could stream yourself gaming, or host a conversation about LGBTQIA+ inclusion. We find platforms like Twitch or Discord are especially popular, and work really well!

Other Challenges

Ask your friends or family to suggest ideas of how they'd like to challenge you, or what would get them fundraising. Get creative! Choose something you that'll work for YOU, and just add a rainbow fundraiser.

3. Help Us Change the World

Fundraising

No matter which LGBTQIA+ organisation you're supporting on IDAHOBIT, your fundraising makes a huge difference. Learn more about the ins and outs of fundraising, and the impact you can have.

Create Visible LGBTQIA+ Awareness

Wearing the rainbow flag signals to others that you're someone who'll respect their LGBTQIA+ identity. We've made it easy to include rainbows and education as part of your IDAHOBIT activity – our Pride Packs are filled with useful items to create rainbow visibility, and LGBTQIA+ educational resources for all ages.

Best of all, 100% of net proceeds support our work creating LGBTQIA+ inclusion all year-round.

4. Engage in Education

One of the most important ways of fighting discrimination is through education. There’s a lot to understand about LGBTQIA+ inclusion, and allyship, and IDAHOBIT is the perfect time to level-up your knowledge!

Explore LGBTQIA+ Inclusion

Identity and Stats - If LGBTQIA+ identity and inclusion is new to you, you can explore these topics to learn more about the diversity of identities within the community.

People and Stories - Read the stories of those who get involved in IDAHOBIT, and stand out against discrimination in their everyday lives.

LGBTQIA+ Allyship - Explore how you can turn your understanding of LGBTQIA+ identities into meaningful acts of allyship.

Join Us Online

If you're by yourself, you can attend our LGBTQIA+ professional training online. Usually this training is only available to whole teams and businesses, but that's changed for IDAHOBIT. Join our Education Team for an introduction to LGBTQIA+ inclusion, identities, and how to be an effective ally.

Our work takes place across the lands of Australia’s First People and Traditional Custodians. We acknowledge their continued connection and contribution to land, water and community, and pay our respects to Elders past and present. Sovereignty was never ceded; this always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
