LGBTQIA+ Days of Significance
October 18, 2024
LGBTQIA+ days of significance are all about honouring and celebrating the diverse identities and experiences within the LGBTQIA+ community.
Some celebrate the whole LGBTQIA+ community, some celebrate particular identities. Some mark historic dates, or a theme – like the way IDAHOBIT is a day against LGBTQIA+ discrimination.
LGBTQIA+ days of significance are a chance to celebrate the history of queer identities, educate the rest of the community and, in some cases, honour those who have lost their lives in the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights.
Marking an LGBTQIA+ day of significance (sometimes called diversity days) isn’t just for those within that community. It’s also a day for allies to proudly stand alongside LGBTQIA+ friends, family, colleagues, clients, and their broader community.
