Pepper Money Marks IDAHOBIT for Second Year
February 12, 2023
Pepper Money is a great example of an organisation which has committed to making a difference for LGBTQIA+ young people, by adding fundraising efforts to their IDAHOBIT activity.
In the lead-up to their 2021 IDAHOBIT activity, the team at Pepper purchased 250 rainbow fortune cookies containing tailored messages of support for IDAHOBIT and the LGBTQIA+ community, which were then sold to staff for a donation at a fundraising event on 18 May. The executive leadership team at Pepper got involved too, filming messages of support to share in their internal communications.
On top of that, the business committed to making a one-off additional donation in support of Minus18's work, to deepen the activity's impact.
After that success, the Pepper Money team returned in 2022. Donations were collected, with the business dollar-matching donations from employees. The 2022 event included both an in-person gathering at head office in North Sydney, and a livestream to their hub in Parramatta and remote workers around Australia, New Zealand and the Philippines.
The D&I team also delivered a presentation educating staff on the meaning of IDAHOBIT, promoting employee inclusion and wellbeing, and testing everyone’s knowledge in an online quiz about LGBTQIA+ inclusion. Finally, in-person attendees got the chance to buy a cupcake with their donations.
The impact of Pepper Money’s support for IDAHOBIT over two years demonstrates the value in combing awareness raising and fundraising in an engaging, exciting and entertaining way.
